(There must be at least one Admin node in a Cisco ISE deployment. You may deploy a second Admin node for redundancy; one must have the primary role and the other the secondary role. Cisco ISE supports automatic failover for the Administration persona.)

Specifically, “When the primary Administration ISE node become unavailable, you must log into the secondary Administration ISE node and promote it to become the primary Administration ISE node. There is no automatic failover for the Administration ISE node.”

I’ve actually ran into this at work before, where the primary node went down and the secondary didn’t pick up (like I originally thought it would); you actually have to promote the secondary for it to become primary. A lot of stuff will still work, but it doesn’t support automatic failover.

To add an addendum to the above comment, in new versions, the Administrative node CAN automatically failover, 2.8 to be exact — the situation where I witnessed it personally was years ago on 1.0 (as are the docs). And the newer version requires a Health Check monitor to automatically failover.

The correct answer to this question is B — the Monitoring Node does not have automatic failover capabilities. When the Primary Administrative Node detects the primary Monitoring node goes down, it will point to the secondary to collect the information, but the secondary remains secondary and does not become primary — you have to manually promote the secondary Monitoring Node before it will become primary. Inline Posture Node fails over, Policy Services Node will automatically fail over as well.

Ten or Fifteen minutes with the administrative guide will confirm that B — Monitoring Mode — is the correct answer!

Took the exam today. Lot’s of answers are messed up in the two dumps in above. Took some time and read the guides and articles, all i could find online to help me get the correct answers. Do the work and you will get the result. I passed with 9xx the questions are the same.. Thanks a gain to this site.

They are 60 question in the exam

80q says this is B, which is the global command, not the interface command. A is correct.

The High Availability chapter of ISE 2.x describes the procedure to configure a distributed deployment, including configuring the administrative and monitoring nodes for automatic failover. The next chapter, Configuring Inline Posture, describes how to configure in Inline Posture Node for automatic failover.

That only leaves the Policy Services Node. Even that isn’t such a great answer, because the PSNs function in clusters and the other PSNs will just force a COA and pick up the load if they detect a failure. The description of this process is also in the Distributed Deployment chapter.

It’s kind of a bs question, but I’d agree with Anonymous that C is the most correct answer.

How is policy services node redundancy achieved in a deployment?

The Chinese dump lists this as D, but the correct answer is C. You deploy lots of PSNs in a deployment and then cluster them into groups. There’s not even and option for configuring a PSN as primary or secondary, only to add the node to a group.
